5 things to do this holiday in Austin

The holidays are a great time to get out and enjoy some fun activities, and Austin is one of the cities filled with activities and events. There's no better way to kick off the season than with a visit to one of Austin's many holiday celebrations.

With its varied activities and events, the holiday season will never be the same this year. The holidays aren't just about food and gift; they are also an ideal opportunity to discover new things throughout the city.

If you are looking for an exciting way to enjoy and celebrate the holidays, use these Top 5 Holiday Activities we listed to plan your next holiday vacation in this Southwestern city.

    1. Visit the Four Seasons Hotel's enchanting gingerbread village

The elegant Four Seasons Hotel is home to one of the most magical Christmases in Austin. It is known for its breathtaking views and luxurious accommodations, and for over 30 years, they have been creating beautiful displays that showcase its famous gingerbread village and Santa's Village. You can see both of these Christmas villages from any seat on the terrace — which is where we recommend sitting because of all the fantastic photo opportunities!

From December 12-24, visitors will see a pre-made Gingerbread Village created by local artists. The gingerbread village will be open until 5 p.m.

When decorated with tinsel and lights for guests to enjoy, it also includes more than 100 gingerbread houses and figures representing some of Texas' most remarkable landmarks, including Willie Nelson's Ranch, Lyndon B Johnson's Presidential Library, and Austin City Hall.

If you want to get even closer to Santa Claus, stop by on December 20 when he arrives at 7:30 p.m.

The Gingerbread Village at Four Seasons Resort and Club looks like a scene from a movie. It's full of handmade decorations made from real gingerbread and frosting, painted gold or silver. Each building has different shapes and designs, including an ice cream cone tree, houses decorated with Christmas lights, and more.

The Gingerbread Village is perfect for spending time with your family or friends while enjoying delicious treats!

    2. Stroll Under the Trail of Lights

The Trail of Lights in Austin is another best holiday events you can attend. It is one of the most magical holiday experiences in the city. The real-life light installation, which takes place every year at the end of November, is a must-see for anyone who loves Christmas lights and enjoys a good stroll.

The Trail of Lights is a festive holiday celebration in Downtown Austin. You can walk or drive through 5 miles of lights as you listen to music and watch fire pits burn. It's a 24-mile loop that winds through the city streets, featuring 1.5 million twinkling lights and a variety of activities for all ages. The event runs from November 17 through January 2 and includes live performances, food vendors, shopping, and more.

You can ride on a train or bus through the city, visit Santa, shop for gifts and souvenirs from the City Shirt Austin collection, watch fireworks, or stroll in awe as you admire this incredible display of holiday magic.

The holiday event starts at 6:00 p.m. when you can grab some hot chocolate and take in the sights while walking through the illuminated trail. Don't forget to check out all the unique houses along the way — there are over 100 displays this year!
