5 things to do this holiday in Memphis

The holidays are a time to celebrate with family and friends and have fun; when it comes to holidays, you can't go wrong with a trip to Memphis. So why not make Memphis your destination? This southern city has plenty to offer on a budget.

It's one of the most popular destinations for tourists, and there are plenty of activities to keep you busy.

If you're looking for a few ways to make your visit more memorable, here are five things you should do in Memphis this holiday season:

    1. Attend the annual Christmas parade at Beale Street

If you're looking for something fun to do during the holidays, this is definitely an event worth checking out! It's free to attend, so bring your family along and enjoy some holiday cheer with thousands of other people who love their hometown as much as you do!

The annual Christmas parade along Beale Street is one of the most popular events in Memphis each year. The parade includes floats, marching bands and other entertainment for families and children of all ages.

The Beale Street Holiday Parade is one of the biggest events in town, attracting more than 10,000 people every year. When you're there, be sure to stop by the Grandstand at 12th and Beale Streets, where you'll find live entertainment, food and drink vendors, and plenty of local residents decked out in holiday finery.

This event goes until 6 p.m., so if it's still light out when you arrive, come back later in the afternoon for another chance to enjoy it all! But if you miss it, you can plan ahead next time!

    2. Celebrate the holiday at Graceland

If you are looking for a place to spend your holiday, consider spending it at Graceland. This is one of the most visited places in America, and it is also one of the most affordable ones. You can visit the mansion and enjoy a meal or just walk around and take pictures of all its beauty.

The best part about this place is that there are many restaurants nearby, so if you want to eat something, then all you have to do is walk a couple of blocks away from Graceland Mansion and enjoy your meal there.

The Elvis Presley Estate is a major tourist attraction during the holidays. You can tour the mansion and learn about his life and career as a performer. There's also a gift shop where you can find memorabilia related to Elvis Presley.

It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of holiday festivities, but it’s important not to forget about the magic of Christmas at Graceland. The mansion is filled with festive decor, music and more for your family to enjoy.

    3. Watch Starry Nights at Shelby Farms Park

If you’re looking for something more low-key than touring the mansion, head out to Shelby Farms Park and don’t forget to put on your Memphis Tenn Hoodie for an evening stroll under the stars. This outdoor park offers beautiful views of downtown Memphis and has plenty of space for picnics, dates and more.

Shelby Farms Park hosts an annual starry night festival that lets visitors view thousands of twinkling lights from its expansive grounds. The park hosts several events during its Christmas season including a tree lighting ceremony featuring a live performance by local choirs, community singalongs, Santa Claus visits and more.

Shelby Farms Park is decorated with lights and displays that look like stars during the night. It's a beautiful place for families who want to enjoy experiences like ice skating and sledging on the frozen lake.

    4. Holiday Wonders at Memphis Botanic Garden

The Holiday Wonders at Memphis Botanic Garden are another great way to spend the holidays with your family.

The Memphis Botanic Garden is an oasis in the heart of downtown Memphis. The garden features more than 32,000 square feet of lush plant life and colorful flowers. You can enjoy a stroll through the garden, which is open year-round or take a self-guided tour through the greenhouse. Several picnic areas are perfect for enjoying the outdoors during your visit.

The holidays are the perfect time to take in some green space. The holiday garden at the Memphis Botanic Garden is filled with over 60,000 lights, including a tree that glows in the night sky and giant snowflakes that drift down from it. There's also a giant angel that welcomes visitors through the gates, as well as a large wooden sleigh on display. Visitors can enjoy refreshments and shopping throughout the holidays or take advantage of special events.

    5. Enjoy the Zoo Lights

If you’re looking for a fun and festive way to spend your time in Memphis, Zoo Lights is it. This annual event features more than 1 million lights and is held at the Memphis Zoo each year. The lights are designed to resemble a Christmas tree and are set up on December 1st. Visitors can take photos with Santa Claus, see animals in their habitats, and enjoy other entertainment throughout the evening.

The Memphis Zoo is known for its unique animal exhibits and animals from all over the world. The zoo offers free admission on select days during the holiday season, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Be sure to check out their special holiday events, such as their Animal Encounters and Santa event, where children can meet Santa himself! Through December 30th, Zoo Lights will be open on select evenings.
